Dr. Paul J. Kim is a board-certified radiation oncologist who has made it his mission to bring state-of-the-art radiation techniques to patients in his community. He completed his rigorous medical education at the nation’s best programs and learned the science and art of radiation oncology from the world’s foremost experts. As one of the most highly skilled radiation oncologists in Southern California, he continuously seeks the latest technology to keep his cancer center at the forefront of advanced radiation techniques—all with the goal of curing cancer, minimizing side effects, and delivering care that is comfortable and accessible to patients.

Dr. Kim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Stanford University, graduating with honors. He completed his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine and radiation oncology residency at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco where he was the Chief Resident. Dr. Kim trained under the tutelage of world-class experts in the field radiation oncology, including prostate cancer expert Dr. Michael Zelefsky at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, SBRT pioneer Dr. Robert Timmerman at UT Southwestern at Dallas, and proton therapy director Dr. Thomas Delaney at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Due to his interest in potent and precise radiation techniques, he went on to complete a highly selective fellowship in proton therapy at Harvard Medical School’s Massachusetts General Hospital, furthering his specialization in the field.
Dr. Kim was appointed Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia and served as the Director of Radiation Oncology at the Princess Anne Cancer Center in Virginia Beach.
He returned to his native Southern California deliver care to patients in the community where he was raised, and currently serves as Medical Director of Precision Radiation Oncology. He is involved in clinical trials of novel cancer agents and the emerging field of immunotherapeutics, and continually strives to offer his patients the latest available treatments.

Throughout his career he has been active in cancer research and has published numerous articles in leading journals such as The Lancet, BMJ, and the International Journal of Radiation Oncology – Biology – Physics. He has authored a chapter in Ion Therapy.
In addition to being an accomplished researcher and author, Dr. Kim has presented several scientific papers at the annual meetings of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO). His awards and honors include the J.E. Wallace Sterling Award from Stanford University; U.S. Assistant Secretary for Health Special Recognition Award and the U.S. Secretary for Health Award for Distinguished Service from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Fellowship for Medical Students; and Farr Scholar, Yale University School of Medicine.
